KIDS PROGRAM

Welcome to The Mats Academy Kids Jiu-Jitsu! Thank you for considering our program, designed to serve the Dallas-Fort Worth area with a commitment to high-quality instruction, rigorous training, and a warm, inclusive atmosphere. Our upcoming kids program, starting in 2024, aligns seamlessly with the standards set by our adult program. We prioritize delivering top-notch instruction, ample mat time, and fostering qualities such as resilience, good sportsmanship, respect, and physical literacy.

Our kids program, tailored for ages 8-14, lays a strong foundation through beginner and fundamental techniques, coordination drills, interactive games, and exploration of core Jiu-Jitsu concepts. For older students, the program not only advances their martial arts skills but also places emphasis on coordination and a deep understanding of fundamental Jiu-Jitsu concepts.

ADULT PROGRAM

Our unique approach focuses on the peak physical performance and longevity of each athlete.  From our knowledge of the body's biomechanics, its ultimate capacity to adapt and overcome adversity, and mental fortitude, we have created a program to train the complete athlete. Each class contains BJJ instruction, breathwork, mobility and strength training. 

BRAZILIAN
JIU JITSU

Mobility and Breathwork

Our goal is to increase the lung capacity, diaphragmatic strength and tolerance to CO2. Proper breathwork training can enhance any athletes work capacity so they are able to perform at optimum regardless of the duration, exertion or pressure.

BREATH

This portion of class focuses on creating full range  of motion and dynamic strength patterns that release compensations and scar tissue within the body. Classes can range from yoga-like movements, foam rolling, and body weight movements with the goal of keeping us on the mat for a lifetime. 

MOBILITY

Fitness is a key component to creating a well-rounded athlete. Our goal is for our athletes to be able to excel in any/ all sports, not just Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
